My birthday lunch: Au Chocolat @ MBS

This year, my October is really filled to the brim with preparation of the candy table for jie's wedding and all the work. So much so that I didn't have the mood to plan anything for my birthday. Can never expect the boyfriend to plan anything in advance but he was really sweet to offer to go to St Regis for high tea because he remember me raving about it. He called on the very day and of course, he couldn't get a table for us. As he has a match that night, I didn't want us to get all jelly from a long high tea session so I suggested going to Au Chocolat for a late lunch. And it is best decision that day!

This section of the restaurant is so cute! But we only saw it on our way out of MBS and seems like no one is being directed to sit there. Next time I shall try to request.

I have in mind all the things I want to order. Au Chocolat Egg Bens, Truffle Fries and their Chocolate Cake! Boyfriend ordered a Fish & Chips and we were shocked to see the fries (as part of the fish&chip) as big as our truffle fries. The normal fries taste quite meh in comparison so we left half of it untouched - and we finished the truffle fries and all the other food. Were totally stuffed but boyfriend insisted that I get the chocolate cake because it was my birthday. Or was I the one who insisted???

Will definitely be back for the truffle fries. It is impossible not to order it when you are there because the aroma is just too tempting!

The Landing Point - Mister's 25th

Being the usual kiasu me, I made reservation with The Landing Point 3 weeks prior to the boy's birthday and also made special mention that it is for a birthday celebration. The 3-tier English Afternoon Tea set is $48++ which is refillable and come with changes of tea/coffee.

There are two different seating area - high bar table with waterfront view and plush sofa with low table for a quiet time. We did not ask for any particular seats and were given the high bar table with the view of MBS right infront of us. Nothing to complain about.

On the tiers are - Creme Brulee, Chocolate Tart, , Cucumber sandwich, Brie on Biscuit, Parma Ham Mini Bagel, Truffled Egg Mayo, Smoked Salmon sandwich, Lobster horn, Mini Ham and Cheese Quiche, Duck confit in Crepe, Kueh Lapis, Chocolate Eclair, Tarte Citron and Canele. We love popping the Truffled Egg Mayo into one mouthful to get the wonderful truffle sensation in the mouth. We were constantly asked if we would like refill and it was difficult to reject food, you see. In fact, we had refill of almost all the food except creme brulee and cheese quiche.

We were stuffed to the brim at the end and surprised how a high-tea buffet can fill us up. On top of all that we had, we were presented with a Tarte Citron as part of boyfriend's birthday surprise. I can still recall the boyfriend's face when I ask him to finish it. In the end, I finished most of it because it was so yummy! Felt so sinful after that we decided to walk to Raffles City (under the hot afternoon sun!!!)

time really flies and this is the 6th birthday I am celebrating with him (missing a couple in between because of army). I still remember what I did for him on his 19th birthday. Must admit that I have become lazier along the way but still love him all the same. Maybe more :)

This is my wish for you:

comfort on difficult days,
smiles when sadness intrudes,
rainbows to follow the clouds,
laughter to kiss your lips,
hugs when spirit sags,
courage to know yourself,
love to complete your life (THAT'S ME!)
I LOVE YOU!
