MALACCA : Restoran Tim Sum Man Ting Siang

Woke up really early on Day 2 (despite the super late night and tiring day 1) for some dim sum breakfast. Seriously will work for food :) We went to Restoran Tim Sum Man Ting Siang which is a few shops away from Ban Lee Siang Satay Celup. This time, we drove. I love my dim sum at places like Royal China and Taste Paradise but there is something about old-school coffeeshop that makes the experience whole. Man Ting Siang is one such charming place.

We were there at about 8.30am and there was quite a big crowd both indoor and outdoor. The auntie recommend us to sit outside other shops so that it is more cooling but I couldn't resist going forward to take a look at the inside.

busy morning

the sauce goes really well with the cheong fun

While eating, we noticed alot of people coming by to a bakery just a few shops away. So we had to make a visit after breakfast and get some of those goodies. Feedback was rather good so do drop by if you are having dim sum at Man Ting Siang.

Kota Kinabalu Day 4 (21.05.13) goodbyeeeee

Our last day is really short because the flight back is at 2.45pm. Basically it is just breakfast, nap and lunch before heading to airport. It is no wonder boyfriend gained 2kg from the trip.

We asked the hotel for recommendation and they helped to call up a taxi for us (same uncle!). He brought us to New WK Restaurant or New Wong Kwok (路阳新旺角酒楼) which is the restaurant that I noted down. There were lots of locals there despite being a weekday morning. We could totally retire there... Haha! The food were generally good and affordable. Just skip the har gao and xiaolongbao because of the very thick skin used to wrap them.

The uncle got his nephew to pick us up after our meal and we went back to rest in the room until it was time to check out. With some time to spare, we went out to eat again :)) Visited Fook Yuen (just beside Old Town) for their Roti Kahwin (which is our usual kaya butter toast) but because of some communication barrier, we had ours not toasted.. Still, the bread is really really nice! Also bought egg tart and pineapple bun from random coffeeshop. NICE!

last glimpse of Gaya Street
We departed for the airport 2 hours before our flight (as advised by the hotel) and ended up waiting very long after we check in because there were only 1 cafe inside!!! But we get to see the plane coming into the "gate" and all the staff getting ready for next flight...

Ending our relaxing trip with a photo in lovely Changi Airport:

Crystal Jade Golden Palace

Have been feeling a little over-dosed from all the usual brunch items, I decided it is time for DIM SUM! Dim sum is one of my favourite food but I have not had it for a long long time because.... ... It is impossible to just go to Royal China or Taste Paradise when the crave kicks in. I tried my luck by calling Royal China but was turn away with aloof service staff.

Decided to give Crystal Jade Golden Palace at Paragon a chance. Good thing we were really early because most of the tables are reserved after 12.30pm. Anyway, the service at Crystal Jade Golden Palace is really good. One of the staff noticed that I'm left-handed and helped to shift my chopstick rest to my left - ATTENTIVE! They were also friendly especially to the regular customers, without making us feel uncomfortable.

We were really impressed when we walked into the restaurant because it look really really grand. Can't say that the food is equally impressive. I guess we are paying more for the ambiance and service. Can't be too greedy sometimes.

i LOVE his polka dot shirt!

one last photo before we head off to National Museum for Public Garden flea market

Next post on Strawberry Jelly Heart cheesecake, promise!
