Bali loving with my girls - September 2013 (Day 1)

Just like all my other trips, I woke up bright and early on our first morning in Bali. Excited about the in-villa breakfast we going to have. Sad to say, the breakfast we had for the next three days were the same and I even wanted to ask them to cook me a Indo Mie instead for the last day. It was a simple fare of croissant, toast, eggs and fruits together with my favourite COFFEE!

After breakfast, we decided to see what is in our neighbourhood and took a short walk to Echo Beach which was meeeehhhh... Chose a random restaurant to have a drink before heading back to the villa for a shower. We also went to this cafe called OLE OLE to get some yummy looking cupcakes. There were not too bad!

before we head out

I have been raving to them about Naughty Nuri Wayang since we started planning for the trip but no way are we heading to the one at Ubud, so Seminyak it was! Since we had free shuttle to Seminyak Square and Naughty Nuri is on the way to Seminyak Square, we asked if they could drop us at Naughty Nuri and it was a YES! YAY!

I can still remember the soft and well marinated ribs from the previous trip but was left a little disappointed this time as the ribs seems tougher and not so tasty. The grilled chicken were pretty good though and it is my favourite item of this meal.  The four of us were stuffed to the brim at the end though we feel like we didn't order that much

After lunch, we cabbed to Seminyak Square and took a walk around the area before chancing upon Revolver Espresso. What luck! It was rather empty when we reach but the crowd slowly stream in after awhile.

We got bored of aimless shopping and hop onto the next cab to Kuta Beach! I haven't been there and am eager to see it. But the crowd there is really a turn off. Below is a photo that I have chosen to pose because it is the least crowded. We snapped a couple of photos before continue shopping and as we walk along one of the small lane, I saw Poppies Restaurant's signage! It was on my to-eat list for the previous trip but we didn't make it there. The girls agreed to have an early dinner, despite having eaten so much the whole day.

I wasn't sure what to order other than the rice platter which come with many yummy sides. And because we weren't really hungry, we ordered the rice platter for 2 and a few desserts to share. We love some of the sides and polished off most of the dishes except for their Strawberry Tiramisu cake which taste really WEIRD. The other patrons of the restaurant are all Caucasian and we find that we are totally being neglected in comparison. 1. We walked in, expressed interest in the menu and nobody bothered to come and greet us. 2. We were ready to order and there was no one in sight. 3. Not a single 'Thank you' from anyone in the restaurant

yummy food. SLURP!

We continued walking and shopping at Kuta before we managed to get a cab back to Canggu. Not many cab are willing to drive us back because of the location and it was really difficult to look out for Blue Bird cab at night. The driver didn't really know the way back and we got lost for awhile but thankfully, we made it back in one piece. Bali's road is a scary at night.

It was Master Chef and girly mask time before we call it a day. Day 2 coming up soon!

Candy Table - Jie's wedding

Project Purple which my sister has requested since last year. Pity that the table space was really too big, making the whole set-up look a little empty but still, rather pleased with it. Couldn't have done this up without all the help. Anyway, my friend and I are thinking of venturing into this as a small business. If you are interested to set up a candy table for any event, you can email us at sweetaddition@outlook.com for a customised set-up.

Bali loving with my girls - September 2013 (Villa Sandhya)

The girlfriends and I booked our tickets to Bali during the SIA sales period and got our villa through Groupon. It costs me about $500+ in total for both air tickets and accommodation. We stayed in Villa Sandhya by VHM Group. Located at Canggu near Echo Beach, Villa Sandhya is away from the hustle and bustle at Kuta and Seminiyak but I am not complaining. I love the location of this place - it is quiet but it has the necessary mini-mart, massage parlor, restaurant and a very lovely cafe (2 minutes walk away!)

The villa is actually for 6 persons, with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms but there was only 4 of us. So, two of us get to have our own room and I got a bed and all the pillows to myself. The bathrooms were lovely but not really practical because we end up wetting half the bathroom due to the open-concept of the shower area.

The only complain is the huge miscommunication between the staff or should I say, the lack of it. The messages from us were not being passed down to everyone and we end up having to wait for an hour plus for our trip to Ubud and having to change our complimentary massage session. The staff are generally friendly and helpful but I think they probably need to have a more systematic way of recording our requests so that it is clear to all.
