Cafe Melba

The day before Labor Day holiday, boyfriend and I had a night date :) my brother was away on a holiday so we took his car and brought it for a ride to Cafe Melba. We reached 10 minutes before their last order (luckily!) and quickly made our order since I had in mind what I wanted to order.

I have seen countless of photographs of Café Melba so was excited to see it lighted up infront of me. It is a really beautiful place, that is actually just beside the road that is being fenced up and you can actually see a overhead bridge when you are seated outdoor. Not that pretty an image. No wonder all the photographs are just about the luxurious green.

We had truffle fries ($13++), chocolate cake, café latte and mocha. The truffle fries was rather oily but still lacks the truffle aroma like those at P.S Café. The cake could be a little more moist and the coffee were more normal than normal. While looking at the menu, we spotted latte with the option of hazelnut or chocolate favour. Wouldn’t chocolate favour latte be mocha? Still, I decided to try their mocha which is 50cents pricier and ended up with something more of a hot chocolate.

The beautiful facade. Thankful for the lovely weather, we sat outdoor and plan to eat and chill slowly. However, 10 minutes after announcing last order, the staff begin to keep the condiment and decoration from all the tables (both unoccupied and occupied!!!) and begin to flicker the lights every so often. We got the message and didn't try to stay any longer.
